Construction of the world's largest 270,000 cubic meter LNG storage tank group completed
2024-07-04 09:51On June 30, reporters learned from CNOOC that the six 270,000-cubic-meter LNG storage tanks of the CNOOC Yancheng “Green Energy Port” project, independently designed and built by my country, are the world’s largest LNG storage tank group with the largest single tank capacity. The completion of the construction of the tanks in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province marks the completion of my country's largest liquefied natural gas reserve base, which is of great significance to improving the energy security capabilities of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and promoting green development.
CNOOC Yancheng "Green Energy Port" project is located in Binhai Port Industrial Park, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province. The project includes four 220,000 cubic meter liquefied natural gas storage tanks and six 270,000 cubic meter liquefied natural gas storage tanks completed this time. The total The tank capacity is 2.5 million cubic meters, which can meet the daily gas needs of tens of millions of households for eight months. This project is a key planning project for the construction of the national natural gas production, supply, storage and marketing system and interconnection. It will be interconnected with national trunk pipeline networks such as the West-East Gas Pipeline and the China-Russia East Line, and will provide external delivery services through tank trucks and continue to provide Jiangsu, Henan, Anhui, Shandong and other provinces supply natural gas resources, which greatly enhances the energy storage capacity of Yancheng’s “Green Energy Port” and ensures the energy security of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
Storage tanks are the core equipment of LNG receiving stations. Not only do they store LNG at -162°C, they also need to withstand extreme working conditions such as fires, explosions, and earthquakes. The design and construction process is very complex. Li Feng, deputy general manager of CNOOC Gas and Power Group, said: "The 10 liquefied natural gas storage tanks of Yancheng's Green Energy Port are all designed and built using CNOOC's independent technology. The localization rate of the project reaches 98.3%, of which 12 technical achievements have filled the gap. It is the first time in the world that six 270,000 cubic meter storage tanks have been built. The tanks are about 65 meters high and 100.6 meters in diameter. They can stack three C919 airliners at the same time. The tank capacity is equivalent to the size of 614 standard swimming pools. , can store 169 million cubic meters of natural gas.”
According to reports, the CNOOC Yancheng "Green Energy Port" project is located at the mouth of the ancient Yellow River. The underground is full of soft silt clay. The full load weight of a single tank exceeds 220,000 tons, and the total site load is more than 1.3 million tons, which is equivalent to "Put a weight on the tofu block." In order to make the storage tank stand upright and stable, CNOOC has innovatively developed a pile group bearing capacity calculation method under the flexible constraints of the pile top. The bottom of each storage tank is composed of 406 pile foundations with a diameter of 1.5 meters and a length of 75 meters. It is firmly supported and gives full play to the gathering effect of the cap on the foundation piles. In addition, the R&D team also installed a shock-isolating rubber pad between the pile foundation and the storage tank cap to form a shock-isolating layer. When an earthquake occurs, the transmission of vibration energy to the upper tank structure can be effectively avoided. Their successful completion has made my country one of the few countries in the world that can carry out the design and construction of ultra-large liquefied natural gas storage tanks.
According to reports, the "Green Energy Port" not only has the functions of receiving, storing, and exporting liquefied natural gas, but also integrates cold energy utilization, gas power generation, gas hydrogen production and other functions. It is a comprehensive green and clean energy supply base and important hub. CNOOC currently operates five "green energy ports" with a total tank capacity of 5.54 million cubic meters. In addition, the expansion of the "Green Energy Port" in Ningbo and Zhuhai is being implemented
