Precautions for using stainless steel storage tanks

There are multiple types of stainless steel storage tanks that can be used in different industries to meet different usage needs. However, there are many safety precautions to be taken into account during use:

1. The stainless steel storage tank area should be kept clean, and there should be no hay, oil stains, or combustibles inside the fire dike.

2. The drainage system should be equipped with water sealed wells; Valves should be installed outside the fire dike for drainage pipes; When draining the oil tank, there should be a dedicated person to monitor and promptly remove any residual oil from the water sealed well.

3. Fire embankments should be set up according to regulations and kept intact.

4. Non explosion proof electrical equipment and high-voltage discharge lines should not be installed in the storage tank area.

5. The transparent holes, measuring hole covers, and gaskets on the top of the oil storage tank should be kept intact, and the hole covers should be tightly sealed. The oil measuring port should be equipped with a non sparking metal gasket.

6. The top of the oil storage tank should be free of oil stains and accumulated water. Insulation measures should be taken for the inlet and outlet oil pipelines and valves of the oil storage tank.

7. Flexible hose compensators should be installed on the inlet and outlet oil pipelines of oil storage tanks.

8. The breather valve and hydraulic stabilizing valve base on the oil storage tank should be equipped with flame arresters. Fire arresters should be inspected at least once a quarter.

9. The steel oil storage tank body should be equipped with lightning protection and anti-static grounding devices, and its grounding resistance should not exceed 10. At least one grounding point should be set every 30m along the bottom edge of the tank, and there should be no less than two grounding points for a single tank.

10. Every spring, the lightning protection and anti-static grounding device should be inspected, and the grounding resistance value should meet the requirements.

11. Two soft copper wires with a cross-sectional area of not less than 25mm2 should be used to connect the floating vessel and the tank wall of the floating roof tank.

12. The oil storage tank should operate within a stable tank position.

13. When the oil level of the condensate is higher than that of the heating coil, it should be heated with a steam riser first, and then heated with a steam coil after the condensate dissolves.

14. Chemical fiber clothing and shoes with iron nails should not be worn. Non explosion proof flashlights should not be turned on or off at the top of the tank.

15. Hot work and tank cleaning operations for oil pipelines in stainless steel storage tank areas shall comply with industry regulations.

16. If the oil storage tank catches fire, it should be reported immediately and the operation of the burning oil tank should be stopped. Organize fire extinguishing and timely activate emergency plans.
