The anti-corrosion principle of anti-corrosion storage tanks
2024-09-23 10:34Anti corrosion storage tank refers to a storage equipment designed and manufactured for storing chemicals, petrochemical products, etc. It mainly consists of storage tanks, inlet and outlet pipelines, level gauges, etc. Its main function is to store various liquid materials, which are not contaminated, corroded, or deteriorated for a long time, and can be accurately supplied when needed. When liquid is stored in a storage tank, its composition, physical and chemical properties, etc. will affect the tank itself. Therefore, the tank must have anti-corrosion function to ensure the stability of liquid quality and the stable operation of the tank and its surrounding equipment.
The anti-corrosion principle of anti-corrosion storage tanks mainly utilizes an oxide layer formed between the inner wall of the tank and the external environment to achieve protection of the tank body.
This oxide layer generally includes the surface coating of the storage tank, adhered dirt, and oxygen in the air. Its main function is to:
1. Prevent corrosive substances from directly contacting the tank wall and reduce the occurrence of corrosion.
2. Prevent static electricity from being generated inside the storage tank, thereby reducing the occurrence of accidents such as fires or explosions.
3. After a long period of operation, anti-corrosion repairs can also be carried out on the storage tank.
The coatings inside the storage tank mainly include phenolic resin, epoxy resin, acrylic resin, amino resin, etc.
Its characteristics mainly include:
1. Good corrosion resistance
The internal coating must have excellent corrosion resistance to prevent chemical reactions between the stored liquid and the coating, and to extend the service life of the storage tank as much as possible. In general, long-term corrosion resistance tests are conducted on the coatings inside the storage tank.
2. Good high temperature resistance
The storage environment of storage tanks in petrochemical production is relatively harsh, with relatively high ambient temperatures. When the coating undergoes thermal deformation or expansion, it is easy to cause serious accidents such as tank compression deformation and leakage. Therefore, coatings are required to have high heat resistance.
3. Good sealing performance
The coating inside the storage tank should have good sealing and no leakage, otherwise it will cause maintenance costs in the later stage and reduce the overall quality of the storage tank.
